*Update on orthopedic appointment*
R's orthopedic appointment went well. She had quite a bit of anxiety there but she did well. He said she has hip dysplasia. He believes she won't need surgery because it is mild and she can do her normal activities. But he is referring her to a pediatric orthopedist that comes to Athens once a month from Atlanta. That is just for him to look at the xrays and to confirm the diagnosis and what treatment would be needed if any. The only thing that will correct hip dysplasia is surgery, so praying it doesn't come to that. Thank you to all that were praying and please continue. :-)
Edited to add: Hip dysplasia is common in girls who were breech, which R was (footling).
God is in control…

I've heard this before from a woman at our church. Her daughter was breech, born by c-section (it's was her first child, riskier to birth a first child breech than a subsequent child) and she had hip dysplasia that was treated already through surgery and a brace.
Her doctor told her that it was more common among white, female, first born, breech babies. This had me a little nervous because my 5th born child(a daughter) was born breech. I've only had her to the doctor once at 8 weeks and the midwife examined her at birth. She's now 20 months. The doctor/midwife never said anything about her hips. Did your daughter have signs/symptoms of hip dysplasia?
Yes R is a first born too. We only noticed it when she started walking at 15mths. But all of her pediatricians have said that she will grow out of it. Never would do an xray, even when I asked. No pediatrician said anything about it until I asked when she was 2 yrs old. I am just praying surgery won't be needed but I also do not want her to be in pain later in life. I am so glad we know what it is.
