*Awana*

I LOVE
Awana!!!! I was in Awana during my middle school years. I loved it! But in my messed up, hormonal, defiant way...I didn't pay attention... and my teen age years were turbulent. Praise be to God for bringing me back to Him and having me REMEMBER what I was taught in Awana. To this day, I remember that Awana was the first time I heard that the Earth was about 6,000 yrs old. I also remember being a gospel clown, doing puppets at orphanages, and doing a Valentine's day party for Cubbies. I am now co-director of Cubbies. My oldest is in her last year of Sparks, my 4 yr old is in her last year of Cubbies, and my 2 yr old is in her first and last year of Puggles (the new 2-3 yr old program). This year I am starting to memorize verses again. Last week I recited 5 verses (1 John 4:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:8 & Genesis 1:1) and won in the Leaders group for saying the most (it was verse-a-mania night). I am going along with the Cubbies book, but I have to say the ENTIRE verse. R came in 2nd place in the K-6th grade group. She said NINE! And she still remembers them but most of all she UNDERSTANDS them. She loves God's Word. Tonight I said 3 verses (Ecc. 3:11, Psalm 136:3, 7-9 & John 1:3 -- actually 6 but I am going along with the Cubbies book) and R said 4. But I think I will just say one a week (just like Cubbies)...I have been doing catch up. Awana is a wonderful program and I am glad my girls enjoy it. I want them in Awana for a long time. My oldest is already talking about being a LIT (Leader In Training) when she is done with T&T (Truth & Training). That won't be until she is about 13yrs old...so we have a while yet! ;-) Can you tell I love it? Praise be to God to allow me to serve Him in this AWESOME ministry! Oh and The link is on the side bar too! ;-)

Love, live, laugh & learn!

Our family has been so blessed by AWANA's! It's truly a wonderful program!

God bless,
Sallie

P.S. My daughter is a LIT and our church worked with allowing our oldest son to continue even above T&T because of his special needs and not quite fitting youth yet..

I completely agree, AWANA is a wonderful program for children and teens. I received my Citation award in 2004 and can firmly say that I would not be the woman I am today without the program and the people that God put in my life through it.
