A few things...

My husband went to drill this weekend. He said there are some cool guys in his unit. He also said that these are competent men too. Some have combat experience, which eases my mind. My husband will be going to AT next year...and he maybe going to combat. It scares me a little but for God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7). I have to rest in that.

It just amazes me the lack of support, hence the lack of respect so many in this country have for the military and what they are doing. It angers me, it hurts. I remember when we first got married and we were active duty. There were some that didn't like the military but I never had to be concerned that someone may spit on my husband! When we went to the nearest post to get our ID's I was concerned about that. The reason being that this was the town that had some recruiters get spit on at the local BIG university. That is appalling and I am ashamed that those people are Americans. Even when I was young I loved the military. I married a man that was active duty army and doing a dangerous job to boot. When we got married he wore his uniform. There are hardly any words to describe how it makes me feel when ignorance is talked about with the military. It amazes me that so many choose to ignore, FLAT OUT IGNORE, commanders IN THE FIELD about course of action to take next.
The congress has just upset Turkey! Our main supply line to our troops! Why did they do that?? Is it so they can get their way while that action single handedly kills our troops!!?? How DARE they say they care about the welfare of our troops??? I am also tired of seeing signs that say "Bring our troops home now!"... I want to paint the entire side of the house that says "LET THEM DO THEIR JOB!!" It is amazing how supposedly all these troops don't stand behind their mission...I have never seen, met, or heard them. Oh and about that Jesse Macbeth(former Ranger on youtube), that is a TOTAL LIE...look it up online. It is still on youtube and it is a proven LIE! Those people are happy to find people that tell about "atrocities" in Iraq, that they won't even do a background check on them! I need to calm down about that... :-)

If this video (from the old unit theme song) doesn't get you FIRED UP for the military...nothing will! ENJOY!

We can't wait to see our friends that are being transferred to a post near us! We haven't seen them in a few years! I need to go...time to fix lunch! :-)

Appreciating our military!

I hate too admit this but I don't keep up with the news events of the war, like I should. Although, I don't oppose the war either nor disrespect these soldiers that are trying to do their jobs.

I wonder if so many in this country don't show support to our troops because so many lack the exact character qualities that these soldiers have. That being Courage, Faith, Obedience,Responsibility, Loyalty etc. Americans don't respect good character anymore. They just don't seem to care.

I think celebrities often have alot of influence on the public's opinion of the war. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I guess many Americans are forgetting what happened on 9/11 and why we are at war. Everytime I hear on the news of another soldier losing his life, it's very sad to me. But I'm not sad because I feel it was a senseless death. What they are doing is not senseless. It's sad because someone has lost a loved one. I do hope the troops can come home soon.

That is a very true possibility. Character is important. It does seem like the people have forgotten. They do seem to just listen to celebrities...which is sad. Thank you for your comment...it is refreshing to see. :-)

Oh and one more thing...I do want them to come home too. But not before they do their job. I was talking with my husband about this last night. I think we should pull out of Iraq slowly...almost to the point of it not being noticeable (yeah right :-) ) And go to Afghanistan, but do know what will happen...the terrorists will follow. They were in Iraq being helped by Saddam, we went in and took out Saddam. More terrorists came in because we were there (the country would simply implode if we just upped and left---or if we did that now). I believe, from now on, all they want to do is kill Americans (or the Jewish people) and will go anywhere to do that.

I enjoyed the viedo, I sent it to my son. He is stationed in Florida right now in the United States Marine Corps. Just like his father and grandfather before him. Maybe it is because of where I have lived, but we see very little anti military display. Most people who find out my son is active duty hug me, or offer prayers. One man saluted me! It breaks my heart thinking some people might not be so supportive of the sacrifice my son has so willingly made. He could not wait to sign up. he was so eager to go and "help out" the United States of America.
I thank God every day for the men and women who are called to "help out".

Mary,

I salute you and your son. Thank you both. *hugs* to you. My husband was like your son when he graduated from high school. He was also like that after 9/11 but we thought he couldn't go back in. He is doing everything he loves right now. He loves his civilian job, he loves being back in the military, and he is taking Brazilian Jui Jitsu. My husband has never been so happy about what he is doing like this. :-)
